Restaurant Spotlight

Little Baobab, London’s favourite Senegalese restaurant, is now based at the Africa Centre, 66-68 Great Suffolk Street, London, SE1 0BL. Opening its doors in early September 2024, the restaurant aims to unite people through the vibrant flavours of Senegalese cuisine, culture, and the spirit of Teranga—the Senegalese tradition of hospitality. It offers a set dinner menu, taking guests on an exploration of Senegalese food and flavours and a more casual a la carte lunch menu.

For years, Little Baobab has been a cornerstone of London’s West African food scene, sharing the rich culinary heritage of Senegal with new and old fans alike. Bringing Senegalese food to London in a variety of ways, Little Baobab does provides catering, organises events with live music, as well as trading at some of the UK’s busiest festivals.

Meet The Founder

Tokunbo Koiki is a multi-passionate entrepreneur and cultural curator known for her vibrant approach to storytelling through food, fashion, and community. She is the founder of Tokunbo’s Kitchen, an award-winning food brand that introduced the bold, vibrant flavours of Nigerian cuisine to global audiences, serving prestigious clients like Meta, Google, The London Stock Exchange Group, and Soho House.

Her passion for African food culture led her to establish London African Food Week (LAFW), a landmark event that has become a staple in London’s cultural calendar. LAFW brings together immersive tastings, culinary showcases, and impactful conversations to honour the richness and diversity of African cuisine. Her work has captured global attention, earning features on the BBC, The Guardian and OkayAfrica.

As LAFW has evolved, Tokunbo has introduced new experiences like the Coffee & Chocolate Festival and launched initiatives exploring wellness, entrepreneurship, and food heritage. Her commitment to creating space for African food in global culinary conversations continues to drive meaningful impact.

Recognised internationally for her leadership, Tokunbo was invited to speak on the “Women in Gastronomy” panel at the UN Tourism Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Africa in Arusha, Tanzania, further amplifying her voice on global stages.
